​The design aims to bring back the spirit of Malayness that was lost in the present. This includes the ideas of community gathering and having freedom of time to spend for a common purpose. An open-cinema concept was conceived with the use of the roof abstraction to symbolise nostalgia. The idea of a cinema was brought about due to the existence of the former Queen’s Theatre, as the building was demolished due to the decrease of customers when TVs and videotapes was introduced.
